COILGUN HELP FROM OTHERS!!!!!!?

hello, i am trying to make a coilgun i have my power supply ready but there is a problem i keep on blowing my scr i have used 5 so far 4 have blown out the last one works but way to much resistance and will not discharge high voltage. I am using ten 330 volts 80uf capacitors, i don't think it has too much energy.The scr i have used and blown were 1000volts 5Amp, and 1000volt 20Amp. Also i did not hook up the power supply to a load during the use of the other scrs i just did high voltage short circuit would that be why that my scrs have been destroyed?
