How can i make good friends?

I'm almost 18 and ever since i left school i have lost all my friends and im feelin pretty lonely. I was always fairly popular and i made friends easy. But after school ended it seemed like i lost everyone and they scr*ewed me over. How can i meet new people that i'll actually want to catch up with after work and things like that. Please help meee! :)
