Can you ever be just friends with your ex?

i've tried to be friends with her because we were really close and it's hard to kick her out of my life comptely but i don't know if i can be friends with her. i've never been friends with my ex before i've pretty much always deleled them from everywhere after some blowout and never talked to them again. i don't know if i'm that kind of a person who can be good friends with my ex..i kind of just wanna tell her to go scr*w herself instead of being civil.
