Is eMachines a reliable pc brand?

I need a new pc fast because my old one just crashed. I saw best buy has an eMachines pc for under $400 ( http://m.bestbuy.com/m/b/product/detail.jsp?skuId=1243045&pid=1218240384822&st=computer&ev=prodView&scr=search&sc=Global&id= ) and its got fantastic customer reviews - but I'm still a little skeptical because in the past I've had bad experiences with things with high ratings but performed terribly from bb. So can any tech savvy person check it out and tell me if its a good deal? Perhaps suggest something else from BB that would be good for me? I don't use the computer for movies or games, its really more for academic purposes but I also need one powerful enough to run multiple programs
